Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Vocational Education and Training (VET) at Calliope State High School provides students with the opportunity to gain practical skills, industry knowledge, and nationally recognised qualifications while completing their secondary schooling.
Our VET programs support a wide range of pathways, including:
• Further education and training
• Apprenticeships and traineeships
• Employment
• Enterprise and business pathways
Calliope State High School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46504) and delivers VET programs in line with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

What is VET?
VET allows students to study nationally recognised qualifications as part of their schooling. These programs focus on practical application of skills and knowledge in workplace or simulated workplace environments.
Students may achieve:
• A full AQF qualification, or
• A Statement of Attainment for completed units
All outcomes are recognised across Australia.

VET is an integral part of learning at Calliope State High School and supports students to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

• Strong focus on workplace health and safety
• Purpose built learning environments
• Practical, hands on learning
• Clear industry and post school pathways
In 2026, the school launched a dedicated VET learning space to support high quality training in manufacturing, engineering, and employability skills.

• Certificate II in Manufacturing Technology (MSM20216) – Year 10
• Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (MEM20422) – Year 11
• Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business (BSB30220) – Senior students (external RTO partnership)
