Calliope State High School is a brand new, educational facility for the township of Calliope. The establishment of our school has been a passion driven by the community for a number of years and we are pleased to see the school come to life in 2020. The staff and community are extremely excited to build traditions within the school and develop a reputation of excellence that will stand as a legacy moving into the future.

Calliope is situated 20km SSW of the port city of Gladstone, just off the Bruce Highway and Dawson Highway in Central Queensland. The town is named after the ship Calliope, which came to Port Curtis in 1854. Industries of the town and surrounds since that time have included gold mining, beef, timber and most recently shipping aligned with Aluminium, Coal, LNG and tourism.

Calliope State High School currently caters for year 7 to 11. We are driven to build a strong legacy for the future or Calliope and are excited for the opportunities we provide to our local township. As a school we focus on ensuring that every student succeeds by providing the Australian Curriculum in all 8 learning areas and building strength in the 7 general capabilities. Our teachers are enthusiastic in providing an outstanding pedagogical approach.

A point of difference at Calliope State High School is that staff across the school take a collective interest in ensuring that we know every student. From our leadership team to administration and our support staff across the school, we want to know every student and how we can work together so that every student grows.
