The Queensland Government
has today announced that an additional five (5) Student Free Days will be in
place next week, from Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April inclusive.
This means that while schools will remain open, the Term 1 break will start
early for students and they will not attend school next week, unless they are
children of essential workers or vulnerable children.
Essential workers are those that must currently continue to attend their
workplace during this difficult time. This includes early childhood and school
staff. Schools are asked to provide supervision for children of these workers
if they attend your school next week.
The Student Free Days have been provided to allow opportunities to plan for
continuity of student learning in the event that the education sector needs to
move to flexible and remote learning at the commencement of Term 2.
At Calliope State High
School we are committed to providing your student with the best education
possible. At a time when students are unable to attend school to learn in a classroom
environment, we are establishing online learning options to support students in
their continued education.
Some
families have been using the materials provided through Department of Education
Learning Place. From Monday, Calliope State High School will be utilising
OneNote Class Notebook; this is a digital notebook for the whole class to store
text, images, handwritten notes, attachments, links, voice, video, and more.
OneNote is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. Using this application as a
platform will allow the students to access curriculum materials, interact with
the teacher and class and receive feedback on their work. A free app can be
downloaded for computers and mobile devices from the relevant app stores.
Each
OneNote Class Notebook is organised into three parts:
·
Student
Notebooks — a private space shared between the teacher and each individual student.
Teachers can access every student notebook while students can only see their
own.
·
Content
Library — a read-only space where teachers can share handouts with students.
·
Collaboration
Space — a space where everyone in your class can share, organise, and
collaborate.
The
link to access each Class Notebook will be sent to students’ school Outlook
accounts and parents emails. The school will post further instructions on how
to access Outlook and Class Notebook via email, Facebook and Instagram over the
coming days.
